BOWs Grand Opening 2014

BOWs Celebrate the Grand Opening of Our Neighborhood Meeting Place with the start of our 2014 Summer Program.

After spending years on school campuses in North Charleston, BOWs volunteers started our 10th year opening a location in the heart of the neighborhood. We are excited about serving families during hours schools are closed, holidays, weekends, and summer months.

BOWs Meeting Place is the neighborhood meeting place promoting education. Interested parents and their children can plan and participate in educational activities and events sponsored by BOWs Volunteers and community partners. We are also networking resources to help parents learn more about job and career opportunities to improve their lives.

Our 2014 Summer Program was centered around parents, neighbors and children practicing basic skills: reading, writing and arithmetic.

We have learned that a simple card game can be fun and also educational. The children in our program built relationships and their parents worked together to make their summer a fun and informative experience.

Our parents and neighbors volunteered daily to make certain there are activities during the program times from 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Our partnership with the Cooper River Library Summer Reading Program also brought volunteers to our center on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help students with more advanced reading and writing skills.
